Even with my limited perspective of the inner workings of independent artists in Michigan, I’ve noticed a disturbing trend. There’s a serious lack of community and mass collaboration. Sure everyone has their own groups they work with, but I’ve never seen a statewide network of talent all striving for the same goals. That’s all changing now with the Michigan Made Music group.
“Michigan Made Music is a collective community focused on new Michigan artists collaborating together to gain experience through music, design, and video production. Teaming up with like-minded creatives, we make original, self-initiated music and art.”
Projects like these are ones I can really get behind. I myself know, and have worked with a few of these guys (such as graphic designer/videographer Master G & “in-house DJ” DJ Pigpen). They’re extremely hard-working and driven by success. If you personally, or anyone you know is interested in being a part of a communal movement like this, or would just like to learn more, be sure to check out Michigan Made Music on Facebook.
