Countdown to #TaylorAllderdice

Once again Wiz Khalifa has the social media world buzzing, with all of us patiently awaiting the release of his latest mixtape Taylor Allderdice.  I get a heavy feeling of deja vu when I think about the release of this mixtape.  Two years ago as a freshman in college I remember patiently waiting in my dorm, on one of the first beautiful days of spring, for the now critically acclaimed Kush & Orange Juice to drop.

As someone who’s been a huge Wiz fan since the release of the Star Power mixtape in 2008, I was highly disappointed in the Rolling Papers album.  I was not alone in this however, and Wiz took notice.  About a month ago he wrote a letter thanking his fans, old and new, for helping him reach the success he’s achieved to this date.  Then he went as far as saying Rolling Papers “creatively wasn’t his best work,” and subsequently apologized for going away from the genre he created with Kush & Orange Juice and previous projects.  Wiz followed that statement by promising that the Taylor Allderdice mixtape and O.N.I.F.C. album would expand upon the genre pioneered by Kush & Orange Juice.
